A few weeks after the US imposed its travel ban, travel restrictions hit Australia’s tourism industry, causing many people to postpone trips.

Some of those restrictions have been lifted but travel restrictions are still in place.
The ban, which was put in place to combat terrorism, is the second in a three-month period.
A new version of the travel ban will be put into place later this month.
“It’s not uncommon for a country to have its own version of a travel ban.
That doesn’t mean that there’s an easy way to apply it.
It’s just how the rules are worded,” the TAC chairman, Andrew Strydom, told the ABC.”
We’ll look at some of the options, and whether or not it’s going to be a change in how the Australian Government implements travel restrictions.”
Mr Strydon said the travel restrictions were designed to ensure the country can continue to host and attract foreign visitors, while also protecting Australian tourism and the hospitality industry.
“In terms of what you’re going to see in the US, I think it’s important to keep the focus on the US,” he said.
“The US has become a magnet for tourism.
It can be the key to our economic growth and that’s what the US is very good at.”
I think if we can get that focus back on the United States, then we’re not going to have to worry about the travel bans.
