Hacker News, Algiers – Travel agency El-Al will suspend the issuance of Algerian passports from September 15 until November 2, the company said in a statement on Monday.
The company’s director general, Abdelmajid Othman, said that he will suspend travel by Algerian citizens to all of Algeria.
Algeria has been hit by a series of terror attacks, including an attack in which two gunmen shot and killed a police officer in a suburb of the capital.
Since then, a series “of terror incidents” have hit the country, and a string of deadly bombings targeting government facilities and military sites.
On Friday, at least 15 people were killed and scores injured in an attack on a security checkpoint in the Algerian capital, which is under a state of emergency.
The attack came two days after a suicide bomber killed 35 people in the capital, as well as a car bomb attack at a military checkpoint.
On Monday, at the height of the Algerians protests, security forces shot dead five protesters at a government building in the southern city of Gharda.
