Australian financial adviser Paul J. Smith says there are “good” and “bad” ways to spend your money in the city.
Smith, who was the chief executive of Australian Travel Information, said the good way was to buy things online.
He said you could go to a local retailer or a big chain store and buy things like electronics and clothing.
“The bad way is to go to the big chains,” he said.
“They have lots of outlets that you have to go through, you have no choice but to pay for it.”
Smith said you should also try to travel to destinations outside Sydney that were “better” than Sydney.
If you have a few years of money, you can probably make a good living in some countries, he said, like the United States.
It’s a good place to get your kids to school, to go on a trip, to work or just spend some time together, he added.
There are also some great things to do in Sydney, he suggested.
For example, “there are a lot of great museums in Sydney.
You can go to Art Gallery Victoria, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum Victoria, you really can go,” he explained.
The next time you’re on the hunt for the perfect Sydney trip, Smith suggested “having a go” and find out “how much it costs”.
