A woman has travelled to the United Kingdom with her husband, who she said is a refugee.
The couple have been living in the UK for nearly five years and now they have bought a house.
But the journey has taken a drastic turn for the worse with the Irish woman suffering severe back pain and a lack of appetite.
The Irish woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, has been living at the home of a man named Michael in the seaside town of Cloonan, near Wicklow.
The woman is currently in hospital with a fractured vertebrae and has lost all of her weight.
She has lost 80kg in a matter of weeks and has been on an intense weight loss programme.
Her husband is a professional footballer and he had been in the United States before the asylum decision.
He said the couple were desperate to leave and that they were prepared to leave for Dublin in a few weeks.
“I just feel like I can’t live in a country like that,” he said.
“You feel like you’re leaving your home and you don’t know where you’re going to be.”
And it’s a country where I’ve never been before, so I don’t think I can handle it.
“But the couple said they had no regrets about their decision to stay.”
It’s very important to us that we get to the bottom of this,” they said.
They are planning to move to a hostel near Cloona.
